06-01-2017. High summer in Raglan, New Zealand. I wake up with two feet a few centimetres from my face. With two friends, I slept in a too-small camper van on Mount Karioi. Believe it or not, but this is the moment I realise what I want to do with my life.
Until then, I had a nice career picture: graduated cum laude, a permanent job at a water IT company and even the front page of the trade magazine.
Until I decided there had to be more to life than sitting at the computer. I quit my job, got rid of as much stuff as possible and left for New Zealand indefinitely.
There, I kept going to communities where people learn from each other and really listen to their emotions. I had something to catch up on myself in that area. For fun, I gave and attended workshops on core values, listening techniques, connection and self-development, among other things. I could pass on everything I had learned in a personal leadership programme and coach training.
Back in the Netherlands, I trained further: support groups, masterminds, in-company trainings. I passed this on in coaching, training and men's circles.
That New Zealand realisation still describes exactly what makes me happy:
“I want to contribute to environments where people inspire each other, can grow together and learn from each other.”
Currently, I do so by Masterminds for entrepreneurs building and guiding. Small, safe groups in which we help each other move forward with sharp questions, honest mirrors and concrete steps.
My approach combines a clear structure with space for the emotional layer.
An approach that looks at you and your business; a safe framework with clear structure; space for everything going on (doubts, boundaries, tension); the practical translation to the next feasible step; rhythm & accountability; a honest mirror and warm support.
For whom.
